Great service and delicious authentic Mexican food, I always enjoy stopping here for a quick bite to eat. Staff is very friendly and timely with drink/tortilla chip refills.

I took my family to this place to try it out. It wasn't bad but it was quite good either. The service was slow and for some reason they were confused why I'd don't speak Spanish. I'm Samoan an islander from an island in the South Pacific not all brown people speak Spanish. Anyways for some reason I felt that is why my family's service was slow. But the one thing I like about it is knowing a place to go and have a few with the crew. Count me out for dinner.

Veggie chimichanga was incredible. Organic margaritas very tasty. Service good. Cheers!

We havent dinned in here once. Always stopped in to grab food to go. Mostly because its right down stairs from the gym, so its pretty convenient after a work out to just grab something from here and go.. The inside is nice and seems clean. The lighting is I guess is what I'd call mood lighting. A little dim. Not saying that as a bad thing. If its nice out, they have a pretty nice looking out side area where you can sit and relax. Or pull up a chair at the bar and have a few drinks. I cant comment on the drinks, but they look pretty legit. The food has always been awesome what ever we get. I see some people say its bland.. I try to order mostly the same thing once i find something i like. But I've tried a few different dishes here. And loved them all. Tonight was the first time I ordered a taco salad from them. Very good. We both ordered one, the only issue is one had a lot less in it then the other.. So I just gave that one to my 112 pound wife and I took the bigger one. I would of been a little pissed if they were both lacking. That's not going to fill me up. The Salsa = crack rock. I jacked my stomach all up in Jan 2014. It was pretty bad. I wont go into details. but im supposed to be careful with alcohol, spicy food and asprin. Well after the taco salad (which i poured a ton of salsa on), I moved on to the chips and salsa. With every bite I reminded myself of the pain I went through in January. I told myself just one more chip.. Just one more... No no this is it.. LAst chip.. wait one more!!!! I cant stop!!! I ended up going through an entire container of salsa and half of the other one. This stuff is amazing!! So is Amigos salsa too actually. And then to make it worse we went out to the club later and I actually drank.. but I seem to be ok.. so thats good.. But anyway.. I see in other reviews the staff is very lacking and slow, and even rude sometimes. I havent had this issue. Maybe because we always get take out? In fact awhile back I think I was even speaking to the manager. I see him there a lot but im not sure if hes the manager. He saw the baseball hat I was wearing that said SCFD fire/rescue on it and he just struck up a random conversation with me about my job. We talked until the food was ready. Super friendly.. Theres a girl behind the bar. I dont know her name. But she kind of reminds me a little of Jennifer lopez. She normally seems friendly. Tonight not so much smiling. Maybe a off night but she wasnt the one who took care of us tonight.. No Tonight we got a little ball of fire who took our order.. Energetic, happy, friendly, bubbly, in such a good mood it would put you in a good mood if you were having a bad day. Thats the way all servers should be I was going to mention her by name in the review so she gets the credit. But when she brought the check I thought Id look at her name tag. I saw nothing on the right side of her uniform and on the left I spotted a red tag but it looked like it was sowed to the uniform, It didnt look like a name tag. I didnt want to stare to long and hard and have her think I was just checking out her breasts. So sadly no name. So Im not sure about the bad customer service others have had. But that hasnt been the case here.

Decent little local Mexican place for a quick meal. They had a section on their menu that showed their vegetarian dishes, which I always appreciate. I opted for the veggie fajitas and I enjoyed the assortment (sizzling veggies, refried beans, rice, lettuce, a dollop of guac) that came along with this dish although the carrots and yellow squash seemed a little odd to be in the mix. Everything seemed fresh and properly prepared.

Yummy. We've been looking for a good mexican fix. This place is awesome. My friend got the Enchilada Supreme. It was delicious. I had the California Burrito Jr. It was huge, and the beef mixed with the rice and guacamole and sour cream and pico de gallo was absolutely delicious. The service was quick and friendly, our server kept our drinks refilled, and the place was super clean. We will be back!

I've been here a few times now, really hoping that this would be a new go-to Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, it is just average, and not much stands out over anything else in the area. It is clean, the service was good, and there is quite a variety of options on the menu. This time I went in during lunch, and the prices were quite good for the quantity of food received. The main issue here is that the food is just rather bland. Nothing really stands out over anything else. My wife got the fajitas, they were ok, but not much different than something you would order at another casual restaurant. I ordered and enchilada and taco combo. Both were good, but nothing that really rises above. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but also wouldn't mind returning if I was hungry for Mexican food and in the area.

Clean, moderately priced and decent atmosphere. Slow service and food was extremely bland and unauthentic. I will not return.

I've been to other Mexican restaurants as well as work in a Mexican restaurant. I decided to try this place with my girlfriend for the first time and The food here was rather disappointing. The food lacked flavor and was way over priced for the portions. I was excited when is saw that they had aguas frescas on their menu, so I ordered the horchata and the mango flavors. The horchata tasted as if it was made from Klass powdered mix (the one sold in Walmart) and the mango had no flavor. I live in the area and was looking for a great Mexican place to visit frequently. This place is not it. I had really high hopes but San Jose just didn't meet the mark.

I've been searching for a go-Mexican place in my area, and San Jose meets the mark! Food is great and they have 2 for 1 margaritas all day, every day. You can't go wrong with that! The decor is fun and festive, and service is good. Located in the Wal-Mart plaza all the way to left.

    (5)
  • Rob F.

Good queso and guac. Been here multiple times and the food is always good. Only bad thing Is the house margaritas taste like nothing but mix. Service is always friendly and quick.

  • Daniel M.

I absolutely love Mexican food. The challenge is always finding a spot that is clean, consistently good, and stays that way for an extended period of time. This San Jose's opened just recently, and after visiting twice for lunch I can say that it is off to a good start. Some words of advice: 1) Don't be fooled by the name "Junior Burrito." it is HUGE!!! Not just a little huge, but Mike Meyers All Things Scottish type of huge. 2) The beef Chimichanga is average sized and a little light on the queso but otherwise good. 3) lunch prices are a good deal, and they typically try to get you in and out quickly. I hope that San Jose's sticks around, and I hope that it keeps building on it's good foundation.

  • Joseph M.

I don't really understand why this place tends to draw less crowds than most of the other inferior Mexican places around town. The food has been very good every time I have been here and the prices are very reasonable. The margaritas are very good as well. The bar is a little slow so order your next round before your first round is finished! I did not experience the poor service that other reviewers have mentioned, they have always been very prompt and friendly.

    (4)
  • Leo P.

It was just ok to be honest. The chicken fajita was over cooked, the margarita had orange juice but it taste like it was from the bar gun or the cheapest one from Sysco.

    (2)
  • E K.

Not any different from Amigo's. Waitress did not listen either which was aggravating.

  • Jen H.

We love this place! I usually order the Carnitas platter. It's always tender and great! They even cut the chucks smaller for my husband one time, because he likes the crunchy parts! But last time we went I had the "Naked California burrito" (no tortilla). It was delicious! My husband ordered with tortilla, and yummy as well! They also have great organic margaritas!! Big! Yummy! I think it's $12.95, but, trust me, one is plenty! Very friendly wait staff. Happy to see how busy they have become! Also, the ambience has a nice Mexican flair! We are from Dallas originally and it's been hard to replace our Tex-mex. and thanks to San Jose, we can survive!

  • Mike N.

Great authentic Mexican! Can't believe some of the reviews here.. Guess some Americans prefer americanized Mexico, so not for you. But for me the best Mexican in central Florida Clean, great friendly service, chips and salsa made on premises must try to hotter version. Vegan options to boot. A home run and BTW bar with authentic liquors and drinks!

  • Jerry D.

If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. They have great lunch and dinner specials, if you are on a budget. You can feed the whole family without breaking the bank. I love their chips and fresh salsa, they give you as you wait for your food. Their enchiladas are to die for. Their homemade hot sauce is amazing too

Great food horrible service, every time I've tried here the past few yrs the foods been great but service is a joke. Especially take out.

  • Shelbi B.

Love everything I have tried. I am always on a search for great Mexican food and this place has almost hit the mark. Been there only during lunch and service has been quick.

  • Derek G.

On a random day I found this place, the food was good and so was the service. The only complaint I has was with the Salsa, while plentiful, it seemed like all it was, was just tomatoes. It was also watery. Not my favorite salsa out there, but the food made up for it!

  • John T.

The dinning experience was not very good at all. I met my sister for dinner and we waited for over one hour for our dinner after we ordered. They brought our beans and rice 20 minutes before the tacos arrived. To make matters worse I ordered a dinner to bring home and when my girlfriend went to eat it has a small amount of rice and beans and a piece of pork the size of a half dollar and about 2 pounds of lettuce. It was a comical thing to see her face when she opened it. needless to say will never eat there again.

  • Digital B.

I've been to San Jose over thirty times now and each time the food is consistently good. Yes, the service can have their bad days, but 9 out of 10 times we leave being very happy with the food and service. I still favor the California burrito but this time I ordered their sirloin which was seasoned perfectly for my tastes. As usually my wife got the combo tacos with rice and beans which was more than filling.

We go to San Jose's often, especially on Sundays when kids eat free from 1-4 (though check your bill to ensure it's been removed; for some reason the servers forget from time to time). My favorite item there is their spicy salsa. You have to ask for it. I love it so much, I usually order a large container to go! The Miami Classic enchiladas are good (I'm a huge shrimp fan), as is the Cóctel de Camarones (shrimp cocktail). When I'm in the mood for something fried, my go-to is the ground beef chimichanga. I've had it with the shredded beef, but it sometimes comes out dry, so I usually stick with the ground beef. My husband gets combos a lot, which are on par with other Mexican restaurants, though I think their chile rellenos are better than most. He also likes Bistec Tampiqueño which has been good "most" of the time. Once in a while, though, it's been dry. Their house margaritas are not too sweet, which I like and the Organic Margarita is a must-try. Overall, we like the place a lot.

  • Albert P.

This is the closest to authentic Mexican food. Of course the serve the normal Tex-Mex food that most people call "Mexican". Great flavors and the margaritas are AWESOME! The samples is enough for two. Our server "Sheila" is the BEST.

  • Sandy H.

The food here is fresh and delicious. They use real ingredients and fresh that day. Great mexican food!

Had dinner here again got the tacos al pastor meal to split with my husband and the carne asada tacos. Once again they were great. I highly recommend them.

    (5)
  • Julianne E.

The service here is great, the food is ok. I'm a fan of free chips and salsa, not all Mexican restaurants offer this. Their salsa was more on the blah side; it was like blended tomato's with no flavor. Personally I like a think chunky salsa. The staff is friendly and attentive, my glass was never empty. Their lunch menu prices are reasonable. This is a great lunch spot because of their quick service. I've only been here for lunch, so i'm not sure what their happy hour is or what the atmosphere is at night. Worth a try at least once.

Be advised: there are two yelp accounts for this restaurant. My wife and I go to San Jose's once a month or so. She loves Mexican food, but I am apathetic. In my opinion, there is only bad Mexican food and good Mexican food. There is no "great" Mexican food. If you disagree, then this review should be Four Stars rather than three. That being said, I like San Jose quite a bit. The Margaritas are nothing special, but well priced. The waitstaff can be slow at lunch, but at dinner are often attentive beyond belief. The food is always properly assembled, tasty, and a little better than what you would expect from a strip-mall Mexican restaurant. I recommend Enchiladas San Diego, Fajitas Mixtas (serves two means two couples, outrageous quantities), and the Tinga Poblana. Nothing is going to make you go out of your way to come to Altamonte for this restaurant, however, I live nearby and there is a seriously critical dearth of good... no, even passable places to eat, so this is our safe weeknight bet for a reasonably priced, filling meal.

If you're looking for more than just Taco Bell for Mexican food come check this place out. We came here for a family members birthday and decided to try something safe so I went for the carne asada. While I was looking through the menu I saw they had one of my favorite drinks, horchata, so I ordered one of those as well. The chips that come out prior to the meal tasted like they were freshly made, which I love. Not long after our main dishes came out. The carne asada was very flavorful and tender. It came with all the fixings and ere was nothing to complain about. All-in-all we had a really nice experience. And will definitely come back again.

Service isn't as fast as you want however after moving here from San Diego, this is the closest to real Mexican food I have had here in central Florida. Believe me I have searched. It is also reasonably priced which makes it a win win.

  • Jay J.

Top notch. The California shredded beef burrito at lunch is to die for and a fantastic value. Highly recommended real Mexican food. As good as anything I ever had during 15 years living in Southern California.

Typical Mexican restaurant with complimentary chips and salsa and fairly priced items. (i did think the dips on the appetizers were over priced, which is why i didnt order any). I got the dinner combo number 2, the beef taco and enchilada with rice and beans. I thought the rice and beans could have been flavored a bit better, but I mixed them together with the salsa and whatever cheese I had on the plate and it was good!! I would have preferred the salsa verde with my enchilada, but overal a-ok food and service. Nothing extraordinary, but I would go back for my next Mexican food cravings fix.

  • Michael B.

Still excellent! Had lunch here Thursday. The chips and salsa are great. Salsa was very fresh and flavorful, especially for not being hot. My favorite item here is the tostadas new mexico with steak. Awesome!

  • Sydney K.

My experiences at dinner and lunch were very different here, and my 2 stars is mainly based off my lunch experience. First off, the good things. Free chips and salsa with chips that are pretty yummy, especially when hot, good (huge) margaritas, and friendly staff. The first time I went for dinner I got mole enchiladas, which were good but quite spicy, and they would have been better suited for someone who likes spicy spicy food. The lunch menu is decently priced for the amount of food you get, and you will most likely leave full, especially if you fill up on the chips and salsa. The things that bring this from a 3 to a 2? When I went for lunch the service was not only slow, but the food was not great. I ordered the tinga poblana from the lunch menu and was provided beef when the menu said chicken. If I had wanted beef, I would have ordered something else. Since I didn't have a ton of time, and it tasted fine, I ate it anyways. The refried beans were both watery and a bit powdery, which leads me to believe they came from a packet. Eh. I remember working at Del Taco (icky) and smashing pinto beans in a large pot in the back of the store, so I would hope that they could manage to do the same here and use real beans. So, 2 stars for a poor experience. I'm not sure I'll be jumping to come back, but I may give it another chance. The food quality is fine (I didn't get sick), but either the menu is outdated or someone working there goofed with my dish, and that's not okay in my opinion.

    (2)
  • Ches P.

This is more of a 3.5 star rating for me, but wanted to give them a full 4 star to raise the average. Don't know why one of the previous reviewers had an awful service experience, but maybe since then they've upped their game because I've never had an issue. The food isn't spectacular, but it's solid Mexican food. I like their California burrito, I usually get the Jr cause it's still huge! The carne asada is good and can't go wrong with the tacos. Chips and salsa are complimentary. They make a mean margarita as well. Nice place and it's close to my house.

Sad to say I have nothing but bad feeling for this place. Word is everything in a Business. Some friends and I did have Take-Out dinner there once and the food was great. I recently got a coupon save 7 dollars on a 25 dollar order. My girlfriend called to order and the said it was for Din in only! Doesn't say that on the coupon. The guy was kinda rude and there management needs restructure. Make the customer happy! REAL EASY! Oh they did the same to my neighbor today too!

Had lunch here. Good prices, good selection, friendly service and excellent food. Will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • David F.

By far the worst Mexican food I have ever had! Salsa was runny and nasty, chips tasted like they bought them from a Winn Dixie! Service was horrible too! You will never see me at this place again, save your self some time and stay away

  • Pete W.

I've been there five times now. Couldn't find a good mexican restaurant around that I liked. Finally there is a great mexican restaurant in town. Chips and salsa is amazing. Chips are warm and fresh, salsa is amazing. The best Carne Asada in town. I love the consistency. Always great! Been there for lunch and dinner and both are amazing. Make sure you visit this restaurant!

We have two favorite Mexican restaurants and this is one of them. It helps that the place is 5 minutes away too. :) Okay that's also hurting me, since I would like to eat less. But sometimes what are you gonna do? Well, you're going to have fun. San Jose's is super clean (that's why we're able to do 4 stars), and the service is very quick and polite. We are addicted to having a pina colada every time we choose to go here, it's our new tradition. Tip: Don't get the large one, get the regular one. The large is a swimming pool of colada. I've had their chicken chimichanga just about each time I've been and it's just fine. Tonight I changed things up and had Tacos Chicago with onions and cilantro. I think it's my new favorite. They were very filling - I had to take two of the four tacos home. Hubby likes their enchiladas verdes and the chilaquiles. This is definitely a place to become a regular at, especially if you're in the 'hood. No complaints, except that their salsa does taste like a strange version of marinara.

How do they have multiple locations? Sub par food...slow service...with no shortage of wait staff...three chatting doing nothing for an hour. Never again!

    (1)
  • Amber H.

The service was slow , the food nothing special. It shouldn't take a kitchen so long to get a simple dish prepared, and there were 4 employees standing around chatting the entire time we were there why aren't they serving food or helping the kitchen? two words for this place...NEVER AGAIN.

Went here with my parents after driving to Emiliano's and seeing that they have closed. I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants in the Orlando area and most are at best mediocre. San Jose's however has some potential. All of the food we had was really good and the portions are huge. The junior burrito is larger than the average burrito I don't think I want to know how big the regular size burrito is. Service was a little slow, but we had a large group and our server was new. He was very friendly though and was happy to get us anything we needed. Overall I would say that this is the best Mexican restaurant in the area.

I grew up eating authentic Mexican food. My friends were from Mexico and their mother a fantastic cook. We tried this place 3 times, to make a good evaluation. All three times were bad, and NOT authentic. The Tamales had to much corn masa and about 1/4 teaspoon of meat filing. The masa should be thinner and more meat. The Toastada should be crispy...always crispy. This was soggy and fell apart. The Tamale was not properly prepared either. Everything tastes microwaved and the sauces taste store bought. The manager, sat at a table eating the whole time we were there, and never dealt with the customers. (This was on a Saturday night also). The beans and rice need salt and seasoning. I come from a family of professional chefs, and I have one thing to say "season"...needs salt. As I sit and write this, my stomach is upset and my husband has an upset stomach also. I wish them well, but after 3 attempts we wont be going back again.

I've been here 5+ times over the last couple years. Each time I'm disappointed. The food had little flavor to me. The wife liked the shrimp tacos.

San Jose's fills a niche that I think we needed in Altamonte. They provide good, authentic Mexican food at decent prices. Service is generally pretty good, and if you go during the off hours (between lunch and dinner), you'll probably have the place to your self. Portions are large, and my only complaint with the food is that the complimentary salsa is a little bland and watery. The full bar really sets this place apart from other eateries nearby. You have a great selection of beers, tequilas, and mixed drinks, making this a great place to hang out at the bar and have a few drinks after work. As far as I know, this is part of a small family owned chain consisting of two other locations - one in Winter Garden, and another in Pine Hills, so if you're one of those types who refuses to eat at a corporate restaurant, this place might be up your alley.

    (4)
  • Bob N.

Typical Mexican restaurant. The fajitas were good, tacos good, chili relleno okay. Salsa was watery. I've been here several times, service is hit or miss depending on the server you end up with. If I'm in the area, it's a good enough place but wouldn't drive across town to get here.

    (3)
  • Marsha M.

I love this place! The tamales (both chicken and pork) are to die for. I love homemade tamales, but I've never had tamales in a restaurant that were as good as homemade until tonight. WOW! Now as for the margaritas, the top shelf margarita are amazing!

Authentic mexican food at a great price. Try the lunch specials on weekdays. Meals are served quickly. Staff has always been courteous and attentive. Never had to wait, even at the middle of the business lunch hour with large parties.

like a good looking woman , that could become gorgeous with just a few minor tweaks , That is how I feel about San Joses, wife had chilaquese (SP) chicken which was delicious lacking maybe just a few sprigs of celantro, an ingredient lacking in the queso dip, which was good but again just lacking a little oomph. I had carne asada which was really good. Margarita was good and very reasonably priced , and my soda glass was contantly filled . just a little thicker queso dip , a dash of celantro and this please would be top notch

Service isn't the best. I went on a Wednesday, the special was dinner combos for $7.99. I ordered the combo tamale verde. It consists of a tamale, butrito, and enchilada. The sauces were very good. I like their salsa for the Chios. It has a nice flavor without too much spice.

    (3)
  • Bill K.

Solid Mexican dinner, but lightly seasoned for my taste. The chips and salsa were pretty solid, but the entree left a bit to be desired. Service was slow for a less than half full dining room.

    (3)
  • Michael M.

Checked this place out during lunchtime. Salsa that came with chips was kinda watery but tasted OK. Very mild flavor. Guacamole ordered as app was also a little thin. It was also lacking in flavor a bit though. I ordered the beef stuffed burrito as my entree. Portion size was decent for a lunch item. Overall the food was good. Service was a little slow. Had to ask for more chips even after waitress delivered the guacamole and placed it next to an already empty basket if chips. Altogether decent food in a clean quiet atmosphere. I would go back again.

This place isn't bad. I had a taco salad and my co-worker had a burrito. They have good lunch specials for $6. I will have to ask for the spicy salsa next time to kick it up a notch.

My fiancé and I are very picky eaters when it comes to Mexican restaurants. It took us months of searching to find this place and it is by far our favorite place. We've become regulars here. The staff is friendly and you get a ton of food for the price that you pay. My favorite item there is the chimichanga followed by the California Burrito (which the Junior is HUGE!). It's an authentic Mexican restaurant that serves the typical dishes as well. I frequent this place almost weekly and am looking forward to continually meeting more of the staff.

I tried San Jose's for the first time last night but got take out so I can't really vouch for their service other than the fact that the girl who took my order over the phone was nice, my food was ready when I got there, the girl who rang me up was nice and my order was correct. Now onto the food. I ate some of the chips in the car on the way to my destination and thought they were pretty boring. They weren't salty or warm enough and not my favorite type of chips. Once I got to my friend's house, I warmed them up, put some salt on them and dug into the salsa. We got an order or their regular salsa and an order of their spicy salsa, both of which were very good and their spicy salsa was actually....get this...spicy! (More times than not, "spicy" is not as spicy as I'd like it) I got the Vegetarian Combo (one bean burrito, one cheese chile relleno and one mashed potato enchilada) and my friend got the Enchiladas San Diego (three steak and cheese enchiladas covered in red sauce). First of all, our food wasn't hot. It was barely even warm, which was surprising since I picked it up soon after ordering and didn't have that far to travel. None the less, it was pretty darned good. I was surprised to see my chile relleno covered in a brown sauce, though (mole sauce, maybe?), since they're usually covered in queso. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite choice. My friend seemed to enjoy the enchiladas and didn't have any complaints. I'm giving them 3 stars for now but I'll probably go back and eat in next time for a better representation of their food and service.

We tried this place two days in a row. Both times for lunch. The service was attentive and helpful. They give you chips and salsa, of course. This is a weak spot for them, which is not good for a Mexican restaurant. The salsa is bland and the chips tasted like generic bagged chips. We also added the cheese dip. The cheese had some good flavors going on, but was a bit thin and the chips detracted from queso. I ordered the veggie enchiladas, the first time. The food was fresh and the mashed potato enchilada was definitely inventive. The other three were bean, cheese and spinach and cheese. The next day I tried the veggie combo. It consisted of a mashed potato enchilada, chile relleno and a bean burrito. I had to order their hot sauce, which was actually spicy and added much needed flavor to the meal. The food is good quality, but they need to kick up the flavor some. It is way too bland. I really want to like this place, but there are so many other really great Mexican places in the area to try.

Very disappointing, lacking flavor. Mostly just glop on a plate. Beware if you're not a Spanish speaker...much confusion due to language barrier. The man who appeared to be in charge tried his best to be helpful. Very nicely decorated space.

Food is great! Place is XTRA clean, Prices are good! You can find coupons at restaurant.com so always a good deal! Now...they have a group of "regulars" on the weekends, that party hard in there making dining for others very unpleasant! They are drinking and yelling and partying too hard for those that are hoping for a nice, quiet date! Other than that, food is great!

I've been looking for some delicious Mexican eats to stop at for lunch and I think I've found it. I got the Stuffed Burrito which is beef, beans, rice, cheese sauce (awesome), lettuce, guac, & sour cream. First let me say it was freaking delicious. So flavorful and fresh. Second of all, it is ridiculously reasonably priced. $6.25 for the lunch order and it was an enormous portion. Lastly, the service was awesome. We had zero wait time, our servers were on top of drink/salsa refills, and I think we waited no more than 5 minutes for our entrees. Definitely going back here. Next time I'm getting the margarita. :)

Stay away!!!!!! Food is just OK, and while eating dinner a huge roach appeared from behind our booth. Super gross!!!! When we alerted the wait staff and the owner we we're told that they just had pest control and that's why the roach was seen. Not the response I wanted to hear, needless to say I will never return there again!

Average Mexican food, at best. Food was not hot. Server acted like she was pissed off. I won't be back.

The atmosphere is great. I loved the look and feel of the place. I was there on a Saturday afternoon, and the staff was friendly. Now, for the food. My opinion may not be helpful because my tastes are particular. I am from South Texas, so I'm used to authentic Mexican food - home made flour tortillas, fresh chips and real, chunky salsa, grilled onions and other authentic ingredients garnishing seared, lightly salted Carne asada. And don't get me started on the homemade enchilada sauce and the margaritas with generous amounts of tequila. Believe me, my description does the Mexican food in Texas no justice. What I ate at San Jose's was nothing close to the authentic food I came to know and love in Texas. Here, the salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce, and had none of the seasoning one would expect. The chips were stale. The quesadilla was composed of two store bought tortillas, fried on the skillet in butter or oil, with one and half slices of white cheese melted over a small handful of non seasoned steak pieces in between. About two inches of the outer circumference of the quesadilla had nothing in between the two tortillas. The refried beans had no flavor. The rice had no flavor. The taco had a tasty shell, but the meat was flavorless. I'm not sure if this food might be consistent with another region's version of Mexican food, but it was certainly not like the food I've had. If you have ever had real Mexican food, this place may disappoint you.

I love this place. I have also visited the san Jose in clermont, which is also excellent. The service has always been awesome and the food delicious. My boyfriend and i never leave disappointed. Their homemade hot sauce is amazing and is a must.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
